On April 8, 2026, the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) released an important notification regarding the new Sliding Framework System. This system is a major update designed to solve the ongoing issue of vacancies remaining unfilled because candidates either skip Document Verification or fail to join their allocated departments.
If you are a qualified candidate, here is everything you need to know about how this single-round reallocation system works, the crucial FIX and FLOAT options, and the step-by-step Identity Verification process.
Objective of the Sliding Mechanism
The SSC introduced this system to optimize the recruitment process. The main goals are to:
- Ensure the maximum number of vacancies are filled within a single exam cycle.
- Provide opportunities that are entirely fair and merit-based.
- Drastically reduce the number of unfilled vacancies caused by absenteeism or non-joining.
- Implement a single, candidate-friendly reallocation (sliding) round for any unused vacancies.
First Round Tentative Allocation (FRTA)
The initial allocation of posts is still based on the preferences you submitted during the application process. However, to confirm this tentative allocation, all shortlisted candidates must visit an SSC Regional Director (RD) Office. At the office, you will undergo Identity Verification (IV) via Aadhaar Authentication.
Understanding the "FIX" and "FLOAT" Options
During your Identity Verification visit, you will be required to make a critical choice between two options: "FIX" or "FLOAT". You will finalize this choice by signing a physical declaration form (Annexure-II) alongside a Verification Officer.
- The FIX Option: Choosing this means you are accepting your tentatively allotted post as your final selection. You will not be considered for any further upgrades, even if a higher-preference post becomes available. If you choose FIX and then do not join the department, that vacancy will simply be carried forward to the next recruitment cycle.
- The FLOAT Option: Choosing this indicates that you are willing to be upgraded to a higher-preference post if vacancies open up. Warning: If you are upgraded, you are strictly required to join the new post. If you fail to join the upgraded post, you will lose both your original post and the new one.
How the Sliding Round Works
There will only be one sliding round; there are no waiting lists or multiple reallocation rounds.
- The SSC will identify all vacancies that open up because candidates failed to show up for their Identity Verification.
- A single sliding round will be conducted specifically for candidates who selected the FLOAT option, upgrading them based strictly on merit and preference.
- After this round, the SSC will issue an updated final result with revised allotments and send the e-dossiers to the User Departments for final appointment formalities. This final result is binding on everyone.
Step-by-Step Identity Verification (IV) Process
Candidates will be given a limited, fixed window of days to complete their IV and exercise their FIX/FLOAT options. You must be physically present for this process.
1. Access the Portal & Book Your Slot
- Log in to the Candidate Dashboard on the SSC portal. Qualified candidates will see a new option: "Identity Verification / Sliding Venue Details".
- You must select your preferred City/State, Date, and Shift.
- There are four slots available each day: 09:00 AM, 11:00 AM, 02:00 PM, and 04:00 PM.
- Slots are booked on a first-come, first-served basis (Green means available, Red means fully booked).
- Important: Once you book a slot, it is final. No requests for date or venue changes will be entertained.
2. Print Confirmation
- After booking, the system will display a Confirmation & Venue Details screen. You must print this pass.
3. Report to the Venue
- You must report to the designated Verification Venue on your exact date and shift.
- If you fail to appear during this period, you will be marked as 'Absent', your candidature will be cancelled, and the SSC will not accept any representations regarding your absence.
4. The Verification Process
The SSC uses multiple methods to ensure authenticity at the venue:
- Live Photo Capture.
- Aadhaar-based Biometric Authentication.
- Fingerprint Matching with system records.
Mandatory Documents & Items to Carry
When visiting the Regional Office, you must bring:
- Your Valid Aadhaar Card (Original).
- A Printout of the slot selection confirmation slip.
- The Mobile Phone containing the number registered in your application form (required for the Aadhaar OTP).
Crucial Warnings for Candidates
- Application Consistency: Ensure all details in your application match the documents you produce. Any submission of false information or mismatched data will lead to instant rejection.
- Aadhaar Failures: If you applied using Aadhaar authentication but fail the Aadhaar verification at the IV venue, your candidature may be cancelled.
- Non-Aadhaar Applicants: If you bypassed Aadhaar during the application stage, your biometrics will be checked against the biometrics and live photo captured during your exam. Failing this match will result in cancellation.
